Model Tools
What’s the difference between model pliers and regular hardware pliers?
Model pliers use a thin-blade design and high-hardness steel, making them suitable for cutting plastic sprues. They are not recommended for cutting metal, hard materials, or clear plastic parts, as this may damage the cutting edge.
Why is secondary trimming still needed after cutting?
Model pliers can reduce whitening and uneven cut surfaces, but if you’re aiming for a perfect finish, you’ll still need to use files, sandpaper, or polishing tools for detailed refinement.
How often should model knife blades be replaced?
It depends on how frequently you use it. When the cutting action starts to feel dull, requires more force, or produces stringy cut surfaces, it’s recommended to replace the blade immediately to maintain safety and precision.
On what materials can sanding tools be used?
They can be used to sand the surfaces of plastic, resin, wood, and soft metals. It’s recommended to avoid applying excessive force to prevent the material from overheating or deforming.
What size of material can the vise hold?
Depending on the model, it can generally hold small workpieces such as model parts, small wood pieces, or resin blocks ranging from 20 to 45 mm.
